The Germans put on brilliant rounds to take the gold medal. The performances of riders Sonke Rothenberger and Isabell Werth were able to secure the top spot.  This was Germany’s 12th victory in the 52- year of the world dressage championships and their 7th win out of the eight World Equestrian Games.

 Laura Graves makes USA history

It was a historic moment in team USA dressage history when Laura Graves and Verdades took silver at the World Equestrian Games.  This came after a spectatcluar performances in the Grand Prix Special with a score of 81.717 percent.  This accomplishment is the first individual silver medal awarded to any U.S. dressage rider at a global championship, this includes the World Equestrian Games and the Olympics. Fellow team USA rider Kasey Perry-Glass and Goerklintgaards Dublet were also successful in the Special, earning a 78.541 percent for a top-ten finish.

Piloting Verdades through a difficult test the pair was the first to crack 80 percent.  “ Verdades is amazing,” said Graves. “I’m lucky enough to be on a horse that wants to do his job. It’s a real test of a horse’s character when you ask them to go and they show up for you. [Verdades] just steps it up for me every time. You just cannot say enough good things about him. Today I’m very proud of how he let me ride him.”

Isabel Werth and Bella Rose took the gold medal and Charlotte Dujardin and Mount St John Freestyle from Great Britain claimed bronze.
