Badminton Horse Trials is one of the world’s premier equestrian events. It takes place in the Gloucestershire countryside, this year from Wednesday 1st to Sunday 5th May. We’re counting down the days to this amazing event!
The cross country course at Badminton is famous for its size and level of difficulty. In our preview show, you can get a sneak peek at all of the fences before the competition. The show features an exclusive course walk presented by Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes, with insight from Eventer, Sam Watson and Course Designer, Eric Winter. What does Eric have planned for the riders to tackle this year? What insights can Sam offer on riding the course? In addition there will also be drone footage of the course, to give a real feeling of the distances and technicality of the course.
Defending Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Champion, Jonelle Price from New Zealand and 3 of the 4 British team gold medal winners from the 2018 World Equestrian Games head the entries for the 2019 Badminton Horse Trials. There are seven previous winners in the field – three from New Zealand – Mark Todd, Andrew Nicholson and Jonelle; one from Australia, Sam Griffiths; and three from Great Britain. Pippa Funnell has a choice of 4 possible rides, William Fox-Pitt has two entered, and Oliver Townend, who will also have to choose two from his four initial entries.
