Marcus Ehning’s efficient round was enough to take the grand prize in the €300,000 CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix at the Stephex Brussels Masters.
With only six riders in the jump-off, the German rider used his signature style and piloted the stallion Comme IL Faut 5 to the top of the class. By executing tight turns he was able to finish almost a full four seconds ahead of the rest of the competition.
“Comme IL Faut 5 is an incredible horse,” said Marcus. “He has an unbelievable heart. He loves this kind of speed, and now he is also good on his turns.”
Other top riders
Douglas Lindelöw of Sweden was second with Zacramento and USA’s Laura Hough with Waterford was just behind him in third.
The German master
This was Marcus Ehning’s second big win of the weekend, as he also won the Grand Prix qualifier. Both competitions were presented by Audi, which meant he had the difficult task of driving two new Audis back to his home in Borken, Germany.
It’s a tough life being an international showjumper…
You can watch Marcus in action as we are showing highlights of the Stephex Masters 2018 on Friday September 7 at 2pm EST.
